5 Things You Can Do for World Kindness Day

World Kindness Day is celebrated on the 13th November. It is a chance to celebrate and promote kindness in all forms! Participants attempt to make the world a better place by celebrating and promoting good deeds and pledging acts of kindness, either as individuals or as organisations.

Kindness is such an essential part of our society; we rely on the kindness of other people daily. It is super important to raise awareness and promote this day and spread the kindness as far as possible!

Every act makes a difference, no matter how small or insignificant you may find it. When you make an active choice to be kind, this will cause a chain of positive actions. For example, by just taking a second to smile at a stranger or compliment someone, you have made them feel good and lifted their mood. They may then pass on this kindness in the same way or by even making a kind gesture such as tipping the waiter at their meal or giving to a homeless person. You wouldn’t believe the difference that simple actions can make!

The nu: team will be taking part and celebrating World Kindness Day! We believe that kindness is so important and we support this movement!

So, what can you do to take part? We have put together five things that you could do this World Kindness Day:

Offer to buy a drink or some food for someone in need. Maybe this could be for someone who is homeless or asking for money. There are a lot of charities and organisations that are helping people in this way, so if you can’t find someone personally, reach out to a charity online.

When paying for yourself, offer to pay for someone else too. Do you get a coffee on the way to work? A great gesture is to offer to pay for the persons order behind you in the queue, we’re sure it will make their day!

Surprise a loved one with a kind note. For example, put a note in their lunch box - brightening up their day at school or work.

Spend time with someone who might be lonely. Have you got an elderly family member who often has to spend time alone or maybe a friend that has been feeling lonely recently?

Send a kind text to someone you know. This could be a thank you, a well done, a compliment, a remembrance of a kind deed or anything kind!

These are all simple ideas that won’t take much time but will make such a positive impact!

Let us know if you do any of these kind gestures on World Kindness Day. Just remember to keep up the kindness, it doesn’t just have to be limited to the 13th November!
